November 16th, 2011 marks the 12th year of service to the fandom for Voice Actors in the News, and it’s timely that we also added our 12th staff contributor this week.
And we begin our anniversary celebration with the announcement of our new VOICEACTORSNEWS.COM domain, a completely redesigned and upgraded blog, and our new host site toonzone.net. (We are still working out some minor glitches and transferring archive content from our old WordPress blog, so please bear with us during this transition.)
This is also a special occasion in that toonzone has offered a new home for The Voice Actors Appreciation Society, one of the web’s first fan communities (via Yahoo Groups) for voice actor fans and where the blog was self-published as a fanzine for nearly a decade. The VAAS also relaunches today as one of toonzone’s hosted forums and will serve as the official feedback forum for Voice Actors in the News as well.
Thanks so much to toonzone’s admin Eileen “Harley” Cruz and toonzone tech guru-wiz guy “Zedd” for their efforts over the last year planning, redesigning, upgrading, archiving and beta-testing the new site, and a HUGE thanks for the offer to host the site on toonzone.net as well. We are honored to have a home on one of the web’s most popular destinations for animation news, resources and fan community.
Thanks also to our readers and supporters over the last 12 years — Voice Actors in the News has always been a “labor of love” by the fans and for the fans, and the new site will enable us to expand our coverage of entertainment news and offer more resources and information for the fan community and industry.
Our 12th year celebration will continue in the coming months with new features, contests/prize giveaways, and some special “celebrity” guests from the industry who will be joining our staff as contributors.
We will also continue to post certain news items exclusively to our Facebook and Twitter (@voiceroy) pages, while the blog will include expanded coverage of specific news stories, staff commentary/op-ed pieces, and special feature articles and interviews — the first of which will be with Tom Kane (Clone Wars, Powerpuff Girls). We will begin accepting fan questions for Tom this weekend on our new forum.
And we do all this because voice actors are awesome, and voice actor fans are awesome too.
