Harry Shearer chats on-air with Chicago’s WBBM 780 AM with his thoughts on The Simpsons US Postal Stamps (as voiced by Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, Smithers), Spinal Tap, and his current Unwigged and Unplugged tour with Tap bandmates Christopher Guest and Michael McKean (which I’ll be posting a more detailed article on later this week).
Shearer reveals in the interview that “later in the year” they will be releasing the first new Spinal Tap album since 1992, which will be split between new, never-before-heard material, and “lost studio versions” of songs from the original movie soundtrack.
In related news, The Associated Press reports that Kelsey Grammer (voice of Sideshow Bob) will emcee the USPS Dedication Ceremony for The Simpsons stamps (previously reported here) along with appearances by fellow cast members Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright and Yeardley Smith. The event takes place May 7th at FOX Studios in Los Angeles.
