One of Anime’s most prominent female dubbing artists, Monica Rial talks with 411Mania.com about her experiences as a beginning Anime voice/casting director, working with voice actors Chris Sabat and Josh Grelle, her career, and her opinion on the state of the Anime industry:
I think starting as a voice actor really helped me in the areas of ADR script adaptation and directing. Voice actors seem to make the best script adapters- probably because we spend all day looking at those scripts. After adapting for a few years directing just seemed like the next step to take.
It was my first time to run auditions so I was a little overwhelmed. I had definite ideas of what I wanted each character to sound like. It was just a matter of finding the actor that could match what I wanted and more importantly matched the character.
